Buck Knives Inc. founded by Hoyt H. Buck began it's history over 100 years ago. Mr. Buck became an apprentice blacksmith in the Kansas area in 1902 when he was only 10. During his time as an apprentice Mr. Buck learned to make knives. At 13 years of age he had developed a system of heat-treating the steel in garden hoes and other tools that allowed them to hold a sharp edge longer.
